With increasing world trade comes the increased risk of pests and diseases being introduced to the UK.
The plant passport system within the EC provides a means of allowing free movement of plants within the EC by providing each batch of plants with a “passport” to show from which nursery they originated.
If required we can label each batch of plants with our plant passport number UK/EW22982. This allows you to take plants into EC countries.
We are an approved supplier of UK Provenance stock in accordance with the Forestry Reproductive Material Regulations (2002) regulated by the Forestry Commission.
We take bio-security seriously and as such we have certain control measures for example:
- There is no public access in our areas of field-grown stock. We do however have an area of container-grown trees that customers can look around.
- Waste from tree prunings etc are disposed of under a Waste Exemption Certificate on site which mimimises movement of plant material and ensures that we are not visiting other sites where there is waste plant material
- We are inspected by FERA twice each year to ensure our plants are free of notifiable pests and diseases. We regularly check our stock for symptoms of diseases such as Red band needle blight, Fire blight and Phytophthora.
-Unlike a garden centre we keep a record of customer details which helps with traceability of plants from seed to planting in case of any problems
