
If you have planted your hedge this season, remember to keep the conditions weed free, until the plants are big enough to supress the weeds themselves. Applying mulch to the base of the plant can help with this.
If you have not used any tree protection, check that your new plants are not being eaten by rabbits or deer, and consider adding tree guards or spirals if this becomes a problem.
At the end of the first growing season you can prune back any plants that have grown away from their neighbours.
