How Quickly Will My Woodland Grow?

The pictures below should give you some idea of what to expect 10 years after planting.

The woodland above was planted in the winters of 2000 and 2001. It is typical of new native woodland planting carried out under the Forestry Comissions new native woodland creation grant.  Species include Ash, Oak, Cherry, Rowan, Hazel and Guelder Rose planted at 3 metre spacings with up to 20% open space for rides and glades. 1.2 metre shelterguards and stakes were used to protect agaisnt deer and rabbits and as can be seen from the photo’s these have now started to breakdown and degrade as they are designed to do.
